Axemen Under 18 players Jack Mooney and Ethan McDonough have been selected for the Mid North Coast Under 18's
Academy. Both players are former Tomahawks, and have stepped up to the senior ranks for the 2010 season. U18's coaches
Mike Castle and Sam Gilchrist said "We're extremely proud of both of them! They have been very dedicated over pre-season,
and we have been really impressed with their ability to learn new skills, and take on new ideas. Our U18's squad is coming
together nicely and will be announced over the next few weeks, but we're sure that Ethan and Jack will feature prominently.
Ethan and Jack will represent the MNC Academy in Tamworth over the weekend of the 26th February in a tri-series against
the Northern Rivers Academy, and the Northern District Academy. We wish the boys luck, and we are sure the boys will
make all of us Axemen proud!

Axemen U'18 half Ben Law, and front rower John Graham have been selected in the Group 2 representative side. They both
excelled in the North v South trial over the weekend, and will now fight for spots in the regional rep team, the Oxley Pioneers.
Axemen co-coach Sam Gilchrist was ecstatic about his players selection. "I'm very proud of the boys. They have both been
looking very good at training, and it's awesome to see they're getting recognized for the work they've been putting in." They
were the only 2 from our selected players to play in the trial, so to have 2 out of 2 to make the group squad is great. It's just a
shame we couldn't send more players, as I believe we have a full squad capable of achieving something special this year."
"Mike (Castle) and I are really looking forward to seeing the boys in action this weekend, putting what we have been learning
into practice. Some of the lads aren't only fighting for their spot in the U18's team, but there are also first grade spots up for
grabs, so I expect the boys to go for it this weekend!
"
The club would like to congratulate John and Ben! You can see the boys play this weekend in their first trial of the season
against the Woolgoolga Seahorses at 2:30 at Coramba.
Fans, Sponsors and players got their first glimpse of Orara Valley Axemen's new Kooga strip last
week at 2010 season launch. Everybody was impressed with the new look. The new kit comes as
club officials attempt to modernise and re-brand the club. "We as a club feel it's time to raise the bar
in this competition. We are creating an professional, exciting culture, that we hope will bring
families to Coramba. The new kit comes with the new website, and new policies regarding the health
and wellbeing of players, and supporters at all levels. It's an exciting time to be involved with the
Axemen!"

The club are very proud to announce that former
Axemen fullback Ryan Walker has agreed terms
with the Penrith Panthers. Ryan performed well in
both Panthers Trials against Newcastle, and the
Eels, and has been awarded with a 2 year NRL
contract. Panthers coaching staff have commented
on how happy they are with Ryan, and are sure
he'll get his chance at our games highest level this
year. While awaiting his chance, Ryan will play
for the Panthers reserve grade side the Winsor
Wolves in the NSW cup.
Ryan was instrumental in the Axemen's 2008
premiership season and since then has also won
the Queensland Cup premiership in 2009 with the
Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles.
Congratulations Ryan! We're extremely proud of
you!
