The Axemen had a great start to the 2010 season, with the sevens squad narrowly defeated in
the final of the Local sevens competition as curtain raiser to the Rabbitohs & Titans trial at
BCU stadium on Saturday night.

After comfortable victories over Woolgoolga 18-4 and Bellingen 14-4, a few costly errors and
some lapses in what had been very solid defence by the Axemen all day, allowed Coffs
Harbour to snare victory 18-14 in the last few minutes of play of the final.

It was a very pleasing result however, with some of the senior players showing signs of good
early season form, and combining well with some of the younger players having their first
taste of senior football. Youngsters Wayne Brown, Daniel Taylor, Nick Lihou, Daniel Slater,
John Graham and Jason Dungay all performed admirably and in no way were overawed by
their more senior opposition.

The squad are now in preparation for their trial matches – beginning Saturday 13th March vs
Grafton Ghosts, U18’s kick off 2.30pm.
