IT’S been a long 10-year wait but finally Nambucca Heads
will return to semi-final football.
Not since the Roosters lost the 2000 grand final to Port
Macquarie has the club played semi-final football but the
finals drought was righted yesterday with a withering burst in
the second half handing the tri-colours 28 unanswered points
to overcome Orara Valley 28-12.

The Axemen drew 30 all with the Macksville Sea Eagles on Mothers Day Sunday at Coramba.
In a high scoring game the lead changed seven times during the match, with the Axemen having a 10 point advantage with ten minutes
to go, before letting in two tries on the back of mistakes late in the game.
Some strong running from Jethro Campbell saw him pick up two early tries, while Matt Cheeseman and Nathan Hardy both also scored
doubles during the match.
The side looked a lot more threatening in attack than previous weeks, and defended well for the majority of the match. Unfortunately
this good work was undone somewhat by occasional back to back errors in poor field position, giving the Macksville attack
opportunities to get back into the match.
This week the Axemen take on Bellingen at Bellingen Park on Sunday afternoon at 3pm. The side will be looking to pick up some
competition points before heading into the bye the following week.
